Green Toys - About the Brand

There’s nothing better than to see children laughing and having fun with toys that we know are 100% safe for them. This is what Robert von Goeben and Laurie Hyman had in mind when they started Green Toys in 2007. They were inspired to create innovative non-toxic toys after they visited a party store where all of the products were disposable. They were so dismayed about this that they decided to find sustainable ways to create children’s toys that would bring happiness to kids and our environment. Green Toys was started from scratch in a garage, with nothing more than a plan to make safe children’s toys.

From these humble beginnings, Green Toys are now sold in over 2,000 stores across 75 countries. What’s so good about Green Toys is that all the toys start out as recycled plastic milk containers. The containers are reprocessed to so that you have super clean and safe plastic called high-density polyethylene (or HDPE) which is considered to be one of the cleanest, safest plastics around. Then the HDPE is be sent to the production line create high quality, well designed and durable toys. All manufacturing is done in California where they follow strict toy safety and environmental laws. All Green Toys also pass safety toy testing standards, including:

• Consumer Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA)
• Consumer Products Safety Standard Specification, ASTM F963
• California Prop. 65 restrictions on lead & cadmium
• FDA regulations for food contact
• Voluntary testing for no BPA (Bisphenol-A)
• International standards EN71 and ISO 8124

Even the packaging is eco friendly. Every toy comes in recyclable cardboard packaging, without the plastic twist ties that need to be discarded. The other bonus of this is that you can actually get Green Toys out of the packaging easily – even kids can do it!
