Everything You Need to Know about Lavera Basis Sensitive
This week I wanted to share with you one of my favourite organic skincare ranges – Lavera Basis. I use heaps of these products at home, so I thought it was time I put this brand in the spotlight. Lavera has been around for a while. It was founded in 1987, by Thomas Haase. Thomas has suffered with neurodermatitis his whole life, and he founded Lavera to protect his own, extra sensitive skin.
Lavera products are all made in Germany, and use raw plant based ingredients, wherever possible from organic agriculture and sustainable wild harvest. Lavera products don’t use any synthetic perfumes, colours or preservatives. They’ve won hundreds of awards, and now have a huge range of products, including makeup and skincare. I even love the name – Lavera means ‘truth’ in Latin.
Lavera have a few different ranges, but it’s the Lavera Basis Sensitive range that we use heaps of at home. I first started using it because it’s designed for even the most sensitive skin. Which means you can use it for the whole family (like we do!). There’s face care, body care, haircare and dental care. It’s all really gentle, mild formulations with organic jojoba, organic shea butter or organic mallow for lots of moisture and protection.
For an organic range, this is super affordable. It starts at $10.50 for the lip balm, up to $33.50 for the anti ageing night cream with CoQ10 (which is an absolute bargain, by the way!).

My favourite Lavera Basis products
Lavera Basis Hand Cream
I’ve reviewed this before, and I really do like it. In fact, just last night my husband stole my tube to put in his toiletries bag to take on a trip. It’s got a light scent, and it’s a neutral scent. My husband refuses to wear rubber gloves to do the washing up, so he always puts a dab of this on his hands before bed.
It’s not greasy, but it’s moisturising, and I always have a couple of tubes floating around. On my desk, in my handbag and on my bedside table (if my husband hasn’t taken it!).
Lavera Basis All Round Moisturising Cream
Another one that the whole family loves. The kids use it on dry patches, my husband uses it on his hands if they’re really dry, and I use it on feet, knees and elbows.
It’s fantastic stuff, and my only gripe is the tin. I’d much rather a tube, especially when the kids are using it.
Lavera Basis Hydro Feeling 2 in 1 Hair and Body Wash
I brought this one home for my husband, because he doesn’t like using Dr Bronner’s on his hair, and was stealing my shampoo. Somehow it ended up in the kids’ bathroom alongside the 808 Dude, so I had to bring home another one.
Boys (and men!) seem to like 2 in 1 products, because they don’t have to think about what to use where. And I like the ingredients, so it’s all good.
Lavera Basis Anti Ageing Night Cream with CoQ10
This has a very light and pleasant scent, which causes no problems for my sensitive skin. It’s easily absorbed, feels good on my skin and isn’t greasy. I always add an oil based serum to give me an extra boost, as my skin is dry, but normal skins won’t need to.
Lavera Basis Deodorant
I bought this for my husband to try, and he loved it so much I had to get some for myself. Even though I test heaps of deodorants for work, and usually have at least three on the go, this is the one I always come back to.
I also love the Lavera Basis Cleansing Gel and the 2 in 1 Cleansing Milk, and the Moisturising Cream. The cleansers are $18.50 and $18.95 each, respectively, and the moisturiser is $22.95. These are fantastic prices for organic skincare!
