Super cute but paint comes off

This is a super cute bead maze, perfect for our small apartment. I love the little fox that comes apart in two pieces and stacks in the middle. The colours are bright without being garish. It looks lovely as a display piece.
However, I can't recommend this as the paint comes off after a few chomps. I bought this for my 11-month old son, and he had a grand old time chewing on the two wooden fox blocks during play time. After a day or two of playing with it, I noticed that some of the paint had come off the fox torso, clearly from bites. He didn't even play with it all that much as he has other toys. I've had to supervise him playing with it much more closely and stop him from putting it in his mouth (which is hard to do!) to avoid him eating more paint.
I have to say I'm disappointed, this is clearly a toy designed for young children, who spend a lot of their time chewing on things. I expected the paint to stay on for toys like this.
