It's been a cold winter here in Melbourne, and I for one, am very glad to be putting shorts and thongs on again, instead of jeans and boots. It's time to lighten up on the skincare, too, now that the wind isn't quite so dry and cold. And switch up the colours to something brighter and fresher, too.
Here's Hello Charlie's top picks for green Spring beauty:
1. Nail Polish
The toes are on show again now that thongs and sandals are out of the cupboard. It's time to give your feet a scrub and a good moisturise to get rid of all that dry winter skin, and then give your nails a bright pop of coral to celebrate the warmer weather.
We love RGB's five free nail polish in Coral.
2. Scrubs
Speaking of scrubs, get rid of the dry winter skin on the rest of your body, too. Try Eco Tan's Pink Himalayan
Salt Scrub. It's a dry scrub that you use before you get in the shower, and as a bonus, it's super moisturising with loads of lovely oils.
If you'd prefer a body brush, try the one from
Bass. The extra long handle makes it easy to get to hard to reach places like the middle of your back.
3. Body Oil
Once you've done the scrub thing, add moisture. We love
Acure Dry Oil Body Sprays. They're made with fast absorbing, super hydrating oils like argan and marula, as well as seabuckthorn and Vitamin E. Spray them on for easy application.
My favourite is the rose - it's a warm, soft rose scent with a hint of spice. It's not overpowering, but gives you a gorgeous waft of scent every so often.
4. A bit of colour
It's not quite time for the bronzed 'I've just got back from a week in Queensland' look. But the first few warm days in shorts are not a good look, especially if you live in the southern states where you develop milk bottle white legs through the cooler months.
Eco Tan's
Winter Skin is the way to go. It's super easy to apply, the ingredients are certified organic, and you'll get a glow that might be fake, but doesn't look it. You can build the colour gradually, or move on to the darker bronze of the
Invisible Tan.
5. Bronzer
You might not want to go fake tan on your face, but a little bronzer can add a lovely healthy glow. We love the W3LL PEOPLE one with it's soothing aloe, chamomile and green tea mineral powder formula. It's subtle, yet buildable, and the colour is gorgeous.
If you'd prefer a pressed powder mineral bronzer, check out the
Lavera bronzers. They're organic, too, and have moisturising oils added so they're not drying on your skin.
6. Blush
If bronzer is not your thing, try a soft blush of Spring colour like the
Charming Rose blush from Lavera. When we tested this in the office, it looked so pretty on our two resident blondes - youthful, pretty and fresh. It smells gorgeous, and although the colour looks light going on, it's completely buildable.
It's NaTrue certified, so the ingredients are great. It doesn't dry your skin, thanks to the added moisturising oils, yet it's not cakey looking, and it's not in the least bit irritating.
7. Facial SPF
You're outside more when the weather is warmer, so you need to make sure you've got sunscreen on every day. Try the
Andalou Naturals CC Cream - it's got an SPF of 30, and it will give you both colour and good moisturisation. Use it in place of your foundation for an easy, hassle free look that keeps your skin protected.
Andalou Naturals also have a
BB cream with SPF 30, if that's more your thing.
8. Lip Gloss
Nothing says fresh like lip gloss. When you don't want that full face of makeup look, but want to look pulled together, a lip gloss gives you a fresh, pretty touch of colour.
Acure's Lip Lush range is good enough to eat, and is moisturising without being sticky. I love the Date Worthy shade. It's soft coral that's not too orangey or bright, and is wearable with just about anything.
